Welcome to Clip’s User Guide. Compare with other code snippets management apps. Clip keep the most useful features and make it easy to learn and use. The sections below will help you get the most out of Clip. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.
1. Most Common Features
Clip only keeps the most common features on the main window. So you can quick access the snippets you want in a comfortable way. You can finish creating snippets, searching snippets and quick view of snippets by just one click or sliding the mouse.
1.1 Creating Snippets
There are two ways of creating snippets from the main window. One is creating a blank snippet,it will open a new window for you to complete the detailed info. The other is creating a snippet for a specialized tag,it will open a new window for you too,and add the tag for the snippet.

1.2 Searching Snippets & Tags
You can input multiple keywords. Use space to separate the keywords. The filtered snippets and tags show in the result table timely after every single word inputing. The result is appended on the history filtered result. So you can get all snippets you want in one searching session. Search result is sorted. The filtered snippets and filtered tags are sorted based on the match degree of the keywords. If they have the same match degree, the use count is considered by the sorting algorithm. In a word, we try to present the most relevant snippets based on the keywords and history data.

1.3 Quickview and Use Snippets
Sometimes you may forget about how to find the snippet by searching, or you want to compare two snippets, or you just want to browse all snippets of one tag. All can be done by sliding the mouse on the eyes of all snippets. A quick view panel of the snippet will show up on the right. Some essential info, like tags and content of the snippet are shown in the panel.You can open the snippet for details or use it just by click the button.

2. Assistant Features
Clip provides abundant assistant features to help you manage the code snippets and build relationships to tags and references.
2.1 Editing Snippets
Clip helps to do some assistant jobs while you are editing. Like highlighting and auto complete to help improve the productivity. Snippet scope searching is supported. You can just click on the property you want to search, then all same properties is underlined.
2.2 Tagging Snippets
Tagging for snippets is quite simple, just edit in the tag editing field, when you complete, press enter to add. You can keep on repeating the process to add many tags. And Clip provides auto completing based on the history tag names.

2.3 Add References For Snippets
A reference can be any kinds of files(documents,pictures,video…), you can create a link of them by dragging the files into the references area. Or a reference can be a internet address. you can add it from the reference adding panel.

2.4 Highlighting
Clip highlight the snippet content based on the language you choose. All comments, strings, numbers, keywords, even regular expressions is highlighted.
2.5 Collapse and Expand Code Blocks
Clip marks the code blocks in the sidebar while you are editing. You can click on the code block markers to collapse or expand any code blocks. Clip replaces the collapsed content with “…”, and restore the content when you expand it.

2.6 Snippet Scope Searching
You can use command + “F” to open the common search panel. Or if you want to find one property(may appeals in many places) in the snippet scope. Just click on the property, all same properties will be underlined in the snippet scope.
2.7 Light and Dark Themes
Dark theme is designed for long time job, such as editing the code snippets. So you can change the theme from light to dark by clicking on the theme button.

2.8 Resize,Minimize and Backward
Sometimes you may want to keep the app background, but will use it soon. You can resize it to a search bar. When you come back to it. Just typing in the search bar, relevant contents show up. Sometimes you may want to hide it to the background for a long time. You can click the more button, then click minimize. Clip just hide in the background. You can click the button in the top menu bar to get it back to the screen.
